This page indexes essential information about each month of the year — including their number order, total days, and abbreviations.
And of course, because we’re Good Good Good, we’ve also included a breakdown of awareness days, positive quotes, and good news stories correlated with each month.
Months in Order
The names of the twelve months in order are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December.
Each month’s abbreviation is based on AP style — where each month is abbreviated into 3 or 4 letters — except for March, April, May, June, and July, which are still fully spelled out. AP style recommends only using abbreviations for specific dates (e.g. Sept. 21) — but not for references to the full month.
Some people simply abbreviate each month using the first three letters.
All months have 30 or 31 days — except for February, which has 28 days (or 29 days during a leap year).
