Before Grist, I spent a decade at Honolulu Civil Beat, covering local news and regional Pacific stories. I’ve also written for The Associated Press, The Wall Street Journal, Columbia Journalism Review and The Guardian.
I write watchdog stories, investigative and explanatory deep-dives, features and breaking news. At Grist, I cover the intersection of environmental issues and Indigenous peoples, particularly in the Pacific, and was a 2024 Livingston Award finalist for my reporting on the aftermath of Maui wildfires.
