I am a physical oceanographer doing postdoctoral research at the University of Western Australia. My research focusses on how different objects are transported by ocean currents, wind, and waves, from local to global scales. I have, for example, studied how floating plastic waste is transported and where it ends up in the Indian Ocean, how connected fish nurseries are along Western Australia, and how sinking kelp detritus is transported from the coastal ocean into the deep sea. Much of my research is very interdisciplinary and based on both computer simulation results as well as field research.
